Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost. Pentecost is the day, and the season in which we celebrate God's gift of the Holy Spirit so that the church can do and say the amazing things Jesus did and said.
In Acts 2 we saw the Holy Spirit as tongues of flame alighting on each of those gathered so as to bless each of them, no matter where they'd come from. Additionally in Acts 2 we heard that the Holy Spirit was in the sound of a great wind there in Jerusalem.
Elsewhere in scripture we hear that the Holy Spirit is the very breath of God, the "ru-ach" or the "pneuma," breathed onto the disciples when Jesus first appeared to them after the Resurrection.
This week, and the 4 after that (total of 6 weeks) we will ponder together what the Holy Spirit is like, and how we can experience this Divine breath of God. This week we will start at the very beginning, (a very good place to start) with the second creation story found in Genesis 2:4-9.

This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created.
On the day the Lord God made earth and sky-- before any wild plants appeared on the earth, and before any field crops grew, because the Lord God hadn’t yet sent rain on the earth and there was still no human being to farm the fertile land, though a stream rose from the earth and watered all of the fertile land--the Lord God formed the human from the topsoil of the fertile land and blew life’s breath into his nostrils. The human came to life. The Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east and put there the human he had formed. In the fertile land, the Lord God grew every beautiful tree with edible fruit, and also he grew the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
