Laura Phillips
Senior Pastor, phone ext. 222
Rev. Laura Phillips returned from the deep south to join OPCC in March 2013 as the Associate Pastor. In August of 2017 OPCC called Laura to serve as the Senior Pastor, the first woman to do so in OPCC's history. No matter the ministry of the church, Laura seeks to create a safe and inviting place for all who are seeking, questioning, doubting, and looking for a relationship with God, no matter where they are on their journey of faith.
Ordained in 2009, Laura attended Lexington Theological Seminary and the University of Missouri, and brings nearly 20 years of church ministry experience to OPCC. Her background and faith journey has colored her commitment to peace, social justice, outreach, and the many different ways in which people can experience God uniquely and authentically.

Lisa Engelken
Pastor of Sacred Spaces
“Life is all about Plan B.” This is Lisa Engelken’s life motto. When you think have everything planned, organized, and ready to go-God call’s us elsewhere. Lisa is the mother of four beautiful children and has hosted three courageous daughters from Germany and Brazil. Her life is wonderfully crazy. In the midst of the chaos of raising children Lisa was called into ministry to help share story the people of God’s faithful stories- not to just children but to their families.
Lisa is excited to serve at OPCC as the Pastor of Sacred Spaces and coordinator of Children Worship & Wonder. She has been a trainer in Children Worship & Wonder for 16 years (Children Worship & Wonder is a Montessori-based worship with children). She serves on a team with 20 other trainers.
Lisa is a commissioned minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) serving in the Greater Kansas City Region. In 2003 Lisa was called into ministry through the New Church Ministry and Dick Hamm’s 2020 Vision: 2000 new churches 2000 new ways. Lisa combined her passion for Children and Family ministry with the new church initiatives and she has been leading families to explore their faith together through the house church model and intergenerational worships for several years.

OPCC Nursery
Our excellent nursery staff provides quality care during worship, the Christian Education hour, and during and many of our special events and various activities.
Kourtney L. has been a part of the OPCC staff since 2013, and now serves as our Nursery Director, coordinating our nursery staff. Each nursery worker is trained on our SafeConduct Workbench and Abuse Prevention Training, as well receiving regular background checks.
Staff members are available in the nursery beginning at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings through the end of our 10:30 a.m. worship service. The nursery is available for children from birth through three years old. Children four years and older may attend Sunday School and Children Worship & Wonder (or also stay in worship!).
Childcare is also offered on Wednesday evenings and special worship services (i.e. Ash Wednesday & Maundy Thursday services). Childcare for evening Bible Studies and the like is offered for children through 5th grade. You can contact our church office to find out if childcare will be provided during a certain meeting, or to request childcare if you need it for one of your meetings at OPCC.
