Global Outreach
One of the most tangible ways that we are involved in Global Mission is through our mission trips. We have recently taken international mission trips to Costa Rica, and have church members that regularly go to Jamaica on medical mission trips. We plan to continue these international mission trips in the future.
We are also committed to Week of Compassion, the global outreach and sustainable development arm of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Each year in February or March we celebrate an official "Week" of Compassion, raising money and awareness for the programs in which WoC is involved. Recently Week of Compassion, through our giving, has helped us to be involved in the outreach efforts in Louisiana flood recovery, hurricane recovery after Hurricane Sandy, relief for the Congo and humanitarian aid in Syria. Check out their updates at Week of Compassion for more information.
In 24 we collected $1500 for Week of Compassion. While this week early in the year is our big campaign for Week of Compassion, you can always donate to Week of Compassion through their website, or by writing Week of Compassion in the memo line of your check to OPCC.

Also through our partnership with Week of Compassion, we work with Church World Service. In 1946 seventeen religious denominations came together to form an agency "to do in partnership what none of us could hope to do as well alone." CWS works with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty, to respond to emergencies, to support refugees and immigration services, to provide for children, and clean water to many, and to promote peace and justice around the world.
Locally we raise money for Church World Service through the CROP Hunger Walk to end hunger right here in our own city. We come together in our community to create many different kits for CWS: Baby Care Kits, Emergency Cleanup Buckets, Hygiene Kits, and School Kits. Additionally, while it is not limited to our Christian Women's Fellowship, they are also the driving force behind our fundraisers for CWS Blankets that change lives around the world.
