No matter where you are, or when you meet, we hope that you will enjoy this time with the story.

When you are ready to worship have someone in your house find the scripture in the Bible.  Some of the translations may be difficult to understand, so choose one that you can best understand.  If you want to read it online, check out this link.

John 6:1-14

Watch this video fo the story, Jesus Feeds 5,000
If you have some more time to wonder, you can use these questions to start and wonder even more together:
  • I wonder how the disciples felt about what had happened?
  • I wonder how the little boy felt about sharing his food?
  • I wonder what it was like to break bread with Jesus?
  • I wonder what the bread and the fish tasted like?
  • I wonder what was done with all the leftover food?

Check out this story of Jesus feeding the multitudes set to a yoga activity - get your body moving and join in to make the story really come to life!
Click here for a coloring sheet for the Jesus Feeds 5000 story Pastor Lisa shared.

Tonight we had an OPCC Family Check-In by Zoom! We talked about the story we heard in worship last week (see the previous blog post!) and did some wondering and creating together.  We also shared some activities and conversations that families can have at home in their free time.

If you would like to join our next OPCC Family Check-In please check your email to make sure you got the invite, or email Pastor Lisa Engelken for the details about joining!

Until we meet again, until worship on Sunday, please enjoy this sing-along-story with our musician Emily Boedeker, and some of the Yoga Bible Stories you see on the right hand side of the  screen!

No matter where you are, or when you meet, we hope that you will enjoy this time with the story.

When you are ready to worship have someone in your house find the scripture in the Bible. Some of the translations may be difficult to understand, and it is a long scripture, so you can also choose to read just portions of it.

Genesis 12:1-7 and Genesis 28:10-19a

Watch this video of the story, Abram and Sarai
f you have some more time to wonder, you can use these questions to start and wonder even more together:
  • I wonder how Abram and Sarai felt to leave their home?
  • I wonder how it feels to travel to a new home?
  • I wonder if you have ever had no food?
  • I wonder why Abram was scared?
  • I wonder what is a special place?
  • I wonder if you have built an alter to give thanks to God?
  • I wonder what God's voice sounds like?

If you have not yet set up a special place in your home to worship and experience God, do that today! You can watch a video here about how Rev. Laura set up her special place for worship at her home.

If you have some more time to wonder, you can use these questions to start and wonder even more together:
  • I wonder what it was like to be going to Jesus’ tomb that Sunday morning?
  • I wonder how Mary felt when Jesus died?
  • I wonder what it feels like when someone or something you love dies?
  • I wonder how Mary felt when Jesus’ body was not in the tomb?
  • I wonder what it was like to hear, “Jesus is alive. Jesus is risen”?
  • I wonder how Mary knew this person was Jesus?
  • I wonder how Mary felt when Jesus called her by name?
  • I wonder what it felt like to tell others that Jesus is risen?
  • I wonder how we can know that Jesus is alive?

Where do you see signs of new life today? Can you go on a new life scavenger hunt?

4/11/2020

On this Holy Saturday we connect the sadness of Holy Friday and the surprise of Easter Sunday.  Holy Saturday is an important day that reminds us that life has lots of ANDs that connect us to one another, including Jesus Christ.

Listen to the author, Rabbi Sandy Sasso, as she reads her story about "AND."

If you have some more time to wonder, you can use these questions to start and wonder even more together:
  • I wonder how Jesus felt when the crowd wanted him to be their king?
  • I wonder who the people were who shouted, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord"?
  • I wonder why Jesus the King rode on a donkey instead of a horse?
  • I wonder what kind of king Jesus would be?
  • I wonder what it would be like to live in Jesus' kingdom?

Hold one of your palm branches.  These may have been delivered to you, or you can color and cut out the paper palms below.

Hold one of the palm branches.

Wave the palms and shout "Hosanna!"
