Our Goals

At Overland Park Christian Church we strive to teach our children about the love of God, Christian responsibility, basic Bible truths, and the worship of God while developing in them a sense of comfort, security, and belonging to the family of Christ.

It is the intent, as the congregation of OPCC, that our children learn about the love of Jesus Christ, our Savior, by experiencing it for themselves.

We believe that children should feel at home in our church. We are intentional about including children.

We nurture and encourage families to be intentional in providing a warm, loving, Christian home for their children.

Nursery

Our nursery is staffed each Sunday morning with knowledgeable and caring staff. Children from birth through three years old will enjoy age-appropriate toys and games as well as basic Bible songs and Bible stories. bulletLearn more

Kids' Worship

Children aged 4 years old through sixth grade may attend a child friendly worship time during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Following the children’s message the children are dismissed and will be met by a children’s ministry leader in the back of the sanctuary. Our Tru curriculum strives to help the children understand that they are a part of The Big God Story. We hope to assist the children by nurturing a life long relationship with God.

Christian Education

Our Kids' Worship extends into our Christian Education hour where we can dig deeper into bible study through group and individual activities. We include a time of fellowship and goofy play to strengthen friendship bonds.

Homeschool Christian Academy

A supplemental home-school ministry of Overland Park Christian Church

The Mission of Homeschool Christian Academy is to offer a supplemental enrichment program for home-schooled children that develops community and friendship among our children through weekly interaction; develops within our children the compassion of Jesus Christ towards themselves and towards others; teaches academics in a Christian atmosphere; encourages and fosters cooperative learning experiences; and supports families involved in home-schooling.

  • HCA meets one day per week, most Wednesdays between Labor Day and Memorial Day, from 9am to 3pm.
  • Each week, students cover topics in Science and History/Social Studies. We place a special emphasis on cooperative and hands-on learning, and even social opportunities. This program is a supplemental enrichment day, we do not test or assess.
  • Students also participate in two, half-hour specials: Reader's Theater and PE.
  • HCA hosts a Reader's theater performance each semester, seasonal parties, Field Day and Yearbook Day.
  • Enrollment is possible any time of year, as long as space is available. However many classes fill up at our open enrollment at the end of March.
