Our Goals

At Overland Park Christian Church we strive to teach our children about the love of God, Christian responsibility, basic Bible truths, and the worship of God while developing in them a sense of comfort, security, and belonging to the family of Christ.

It is the intent, as the congregation of OPCC, that our children learn about the love of Jesus Christ, our Savior, by experiencing it for themselves.

We believe that children should feel at home in our church. We are intentional about including children.

We nurture and encourage families to be intentional in providing a warm, loving, Christian home for their children.

New Parenting Class To Be Offered Spring 2010

In six sessions, best-selling authors Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott will take you through a parenting approach you won’t find in any other parenting resource. They’ll give us a sneak peek at the real-life parenting moments and vulnerable questions from 20 families. You will discover 10 biblical traits that will make you a better person and a better parent. Then, you will begin to intentionally pass on these key traits to your kids.

There will be no charge for the class except for the price of the workbook which is $12.99. Childcare will be provided by reservation only.

Classes have been scheduled to meet on Sundays in the Fireside Room from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., beginning March 21 and continuing through May 2, 2010. (Class will not meet on Easter Sunday.) Contact us to enroll or for more information.

Christian Education

Our curriculum is child-targeted, Bible-based, and life-oriented. We spend three to six weeks on most topics/Bible stories with the lessons being presented in workshops. Our workshops may include but are not limited to: science, storytelling, computers, cooking, arts & crafts, drama, puppetry, video and creative writing. Our goal is that the children and the leaders will begin to internalize God’s word by saying, doing, and experiencing it.

Nursery

Our nursery is staffed each Sunday morning with knowledgeable and caring staff. Children from birth through three years old will enjoy age-appropriate toys and games as well as basic Bible songs and Bible stories. Learn more

Kid's Worship

Children aged 4 years old through fifth grade may attend a child friendly worship time during the 10:45 worship service. Following the children’s message the children are dismissed and will be met by a children’s ministry leader in the back of the sanctuary. During Kid’s Worship your child will experience God through His Word, praise songs, crafts, games and age-appropriate lessons.

Preschool

Children’s play is their work – our preschool strives to maintain a balance between academic and social play so that each child will grow physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Preschool Director: Flo Wills, 913.677.4646, ext. 230 More information

Parent's Day Out
